This is my first attempt at writing any kind of poetry in a foreign language. It's difficult! Trying to find simple rhymes in another language really demonstrates my paltry vocabulary. If I sit in silence and try to think of rhymes in English, they fade in and out of my mind automatically. This morning when I tried to think of Polish rhymes I sat looking at the table with an empty head!
Bloggers guilt is a real thing, you might think that I have given up on my Polish but you would be wrong. I'm not in a formal class these days but I continue to work away at improving my Polish in fits and starts. Don't give up on Borsuk na Pradze!

modern day poetry- maybe translating will further inspire your Wena?
@Kolin - Would you recommend poetry writing to other language learners as a way to improve abilities? I would assume you feel it was time spent well if you're going to write another poem po polsku?

OdpowiedzUsuń@TEFL Agent - I hadn't thought about it. I wrote a poem because I made one of my students write one. She ended up writing a Haiku, which isn't my favourite kind of poetry but the form is interesting and worthy of discussion. Study of Haiku is good because it requires an understanding of syllables, which is a good exercise in itself. I think it IS a good exercise, and I'll try to write some more. Do you have your students write poems too?
Yeah, I do get them to write poems but students never really seem interested in it regardless of how hard I try to sell it to them!
